One evening, after one of his shows, Max receives a visit from a mysterious man from Santo Domingo - Luis Lopez-Vega - who tells Max that his father is alive and that his mother’s trial was rigged.
When Max goes to meet the man a second time he finds him dead, shot through the head, but discovers a piece of paper. Written on it is a sequence of eight numbers - 83521113.
Max realises the numbers could be his only chance to unlock the mystery of his father’s disappearance. Desperate to find out what really happened to him, and to seek justice for his mother, Max embarks on the most terrifying mission of his life, when he has to use all the tricks and illusions of his escapology act to outwit his enemies and survive.
